Day geckos (genus Phelsuma, family Gekkonidae) are diurnal and largely Malagasy and Mascarene in distribution. Several species in this group carry IUCN Red List assessments and the genus is CITES-listed, so conservation status is recorded per species from published sources rather than asserted. Captive lineage is tracked to founder wherever the chain allows.
